Our Vision and Beliefs

Studio BYW was created with six essential core values in mind.

This includes the following:

1. Creativity and passion comes first

At Studio BYW we pride ourselves on being invested in the projects we work on. This means that we will only take on commissions that we think align with us morally and creatively. Our aim is to create passion projects as well as work alongside companies who have similar interests to us.

2. Equal Opportunities for all

Getting a job in the media is hard, especially when you don’t have any contacts or there aren’t any vacancies in the industry because of budget cuts. We want to make opportunities for talented diverse creatives who haven’t had their breakout moment within the media, or haven’t had a chance to get their foot in the door yet. We pride ourselves on championing the diversity within our team as well as within our content, and showcasing how diverse Wales is as a nation.

3. Welsh Culture and bilingualism

As a company that began in South Wales and includes the Welsh language within its name, we want to make sure we are promoting our culture and bilingualism wherever possible. Our nation is full of undiscovered talent, unheard stories and history which shapes our narrative and we want to make sure we are highlighting that within our content.

4. Considerate working standards

Studio BYW was created by a team who have worked within the media or media adjacent fields, and have experienced both positive and negative working environments. Our aim is to create working standards that reflect how we would like to be treated too, whether this is flexible working, hybrid working or specific ways of communicating.  We want to ensure that everyone within the team, or the companies we work alongside, feel comfortable and happy within our working relationship.

5. Keeping ahead of the game and being reactive

Often within the media, the same content is churned out year upon year and there is a lack of reactive and up to date content. We want to stay ahead of the game and react to popular topics as they are happening. We want to stray away from subjects that are repeated throughout the mainstream media and instead focus on topics happening within Wales that aren’t necessarily showcased.

6. Integrity

Finally as a company, we have a strong moral compass when it comes to creating honest and transparent content that reflects the real world. We want to be proud of what we create and how we represent the company, its case studies and its commissioners in an honourable way whilst holding ourselves to our core values.
